- What bookkeeping services do you offer? We provide full-service bookkeeping including accounts receivable/payable, bank reconciliation, financial reporting, payroll support, tax prep support, job cost tracking, and cleanup/catch-up bookkeeping. Our services are tailored to industries like trades, contractors, and professional services.
- What if I need training on my bookkeeping software? We offer software training and support to help you or your staff feel confident using your accounting system, including how to run reports, enter transactions correctly, and understand your numbers.
- What is a diagnostic review and why might I want one? A diagnostic review is when we review your existing bookkeeping and identify any problem areas or red flags. A typical engagement reviews the current or most recent fiscal year. During our review we will make notes of what is going well, identify areas that could be improved, and make recommendations based on best practices and industry standards. We then write up a report with our findings and action items. Lastly, we schedule a video call to review our report and go through your books together so you understand our findings and how they impact your bookkeeping and your business.
- How much do your services cost? Pricing depends on your volume of transactions, complexity, and the level of support you need. We offer transparent monthly plans and a custom quote after our initial discovery conversation.
- How do you onboard new clients? We begin with a free discovery call to understand your business needs. If you decide to move forward with us, we prepare and sign an engagement letter, then schedule a kick off meeting between yourself and the senior bookkeeper assigned to your file. The kickoff meeting gives you a chance to meet the senior bookkeeper and gives them a chance to get to know you and your business, your preferences, needs, and goals – allowing them to provide extremely customized service. From there, we gather your financial data, set up access (as required), and map out a customized bookkeeping workflow. We guide you through every step to ensure a smooth transition.
- How will we communicate? We use email, cloud accounting platforms, a practice management software (Financial Cents) phone or video calls — whichever method you prefer. You’ll also have access to your bookkeeper when you need timely answers.
- What accounting software do you support? We primarily work with QuickBooks Online but support other platforms like Xero and Wave depending on your business needs. We also help with software setup and training.
- What apps do you use? Do you require clients to use any specific apps? We are proficient in several different apps related to bookkeeping including, Dext, Hubdoc, Jane, Jobber, Shopify, Square, Stripe and many others that are industry-niche specific. We do not require our clients to utilize any apps, though we may recommend some that we feel may make your life easier.
- Do you work with construction and trades businesses? Yes! We specialize in contractors and trade professionals including construction, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical businesses. We help with job costing, progress invoicing, and payroll.
- What financial reports will I receive? You will receive a month by month comparative Profit & Loss report. We also can send monthly summaries on how much to set aside for sales tax and/or income tax. We also offer the option of having us send a summary of any discrepancies month over month (ex. Bank fees expense is significantly higher than the previously month, we’ll look into why and advise). Other reports and insights are available and can be discussed during the onboarding process.
- Do you prepare or file income taxes? We don’t file income taxes directly, but we provide organized, accurate financials and year-end packages that make tax filing easier for your accountant.
- Do you manage trust accounts? Yes — for businesses that require trust accounting (e.g., legal firms, real estate brokerages, property managers), we manage trust funds with strict compliance and clear reconciliation processes.
- My books are a mess — can you fix them? Yes! We offer catch-up and cleanup services to get your books current and accurate. We then recommend a routine bookkeeping plan so you stay organized moving forward.
- How long does cleanup take? It depends on the condition of your records and transaction volume. We’ll give you an estimated timeline after reviewing your books during onboarding.
